Zelo utilizes a licensed and regulated payment processing partner for all payment processing. This means that all financial transactions, regulatory compliance, money transmission licensing, and funds handling are managed directly by our payment partner — a globally licensed and regulated payment processor.
Zelo is a technology platform, not a financial institution. We provide the software that enables you to create beautiful event pages, manage gift registries, and connect with your guests. Here's what we do and don't do:
What Zelo Does:
What Zelo Does NOT Do:
Our payment processing partner is a globally licensed payment processor that handles all regulatory requirements for financial transactions. Their compliance includes:
Contributions made through Zelo are intended as gifts. Contributors should not expect goods, services, or financial returns in exchange for their contributions. The recipient may use the funds at their discretion.
Gift tax rules may apply depending on your jurisdiction and the amounts involved. Our payment partner may issue tax documentation (such as 1099-K forms in the US) to recipients as required by law. We recommend consulting a tax professional for guidance specific to your situation.
Payment disputes and chargebacks are handled through our payment partner's dispute resolution process. For issues related to specific transactions, you may also contact your card issuer directly. See our Complaints Policy for platform-related concerns.
